Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team in Chicago. This role requires a strong foundation in network engineering, a hands-on approach to data center operations, and a focus on building scalable and resilient systems that support mission-critical infrastructure.

Design, deploy, and maintain data center infrastructure, including switches, routers, servers, and structured cabling

Perform rack-and-stack, hardware installation, and physical infrastructure tasks as needed

Support high-performance, low-latency network environments across multiple sites

Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline provisioning, monitoring, and configuration management (Python, Ansible, etc.)

Partner with internal teams to support infrastructure and ensure 24/7 availability

Troubleshoot network and hardware issues with urgency and precision

Maintain clear documentation on network topologies, procedures, and system dependencies

Participate in on-call rotation and assist with after-hours maintenance as needed

4+ years of experience in data center operations or network engineering roles

Strong experience with enterprise-level networking – switching, routing, firewalls, and load balancing

Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or custom scripting in Python/Bash

Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix)

Experience with rack-and-stack, structured cabling, and hardware installation best practices

Solid understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and low-latency network design

Direct experience supporting trading environments or financial exchanges preferred

Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with a collaborative mindset

Cisco or Juniper certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIS)

Exposure to virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM) or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Experience with data center builds, migrations, or scaling initiatives
