About the Opportunity
We are seeking a certified Google Cloud Platform (GCP) specialist to serve as a critical technical advisor, overseeing the stability, automation, and security of a high-priority, production-scale native cloud environment. This contract role requires an expert in modern site reliability engineering (SRE) principles who can proactively manage infrastructure-as-code, optimize database performance, and ensure near-perfect application availability. If you bring deep operational experience with containerized cloud architectures and advanced infrastructure governance, this is a compelling opportunity to own a highly visible enterprise platform ecosystem.
Responsibilities
-
Platform Reliability and Maintenance: Actively monitor, tune, and sustain core cloud components including containerized runtime services, relational databases, distributed messaging components, and software-defined networking layers.
-
Infrastructure Automation: Manage configuration files and state definitions across development, staging, and production environments using modern infrastructure-as-code deployment practices.
-
Incident Management & Diagnostics: Spearhead rapid root cause analysis during critical platform disruptions, addressing latency anomalies, connectivity issues, and cloud resource bottlenecks.
-
Data Tier Operations: Maintain high-availability database architectures, ensuring seamless connection configurations, failover protocols, and automated recovery validation.
-
Cloud Security Administration: Enforce rigorous identity and access management controls, manage virtual networking firewalls, handle automated credential cycling, and implement robust web-application defenses.
-
Efficiency Analysis: Continuously evaluate usage trends to right-size compute resources, manage scaling rules, and control operational expenditures against resource limits.
Requirements (must-have)
-
GCP Operational Background: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in cloud infrastructure or site reliability engineering, with a minimum of 3 years spent executing technical deliverables natively within the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem.
-
Cloud Architecture Domain Knowledge: Exceptional operational proficiency with core GCP systems including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Pub/Sub, Virtual Private Cloud networking, Cloud Load Balancing, and identity governance protocols.
-
Infrastructure-as-Code Proficiency: Demonstrated experience authoring, deploying, and tracking environment states through automated tools such as Terraform or native cloud deployment managers.
-
Database Infrastructure Oversight: Substantial familiarity administering enterprise cloud databases, including clustering, connection pooling proxies, read replicas, and disaster recovery strategies.
-
Security Governance: Expert execution of least-privilege access designs, workload identities, and perimeter defensive rules.
-
Observability & Telemetry: Proven capability to construct monitoring dashboards, configure metric-driven alert paths, and track operational service level objectives during active deployments.
Preferred Qualifications (nice-to-have)
-
Professional Certification: Holding a valid Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer credential is highly desirable.
-
Advanced Workloads: Prior exposure to managing underlying cloud infrastructure that supports active machine learning pipelines or AI-driven application layers.
