The Business Technology (BT) Business Partner serves as a strategic liaison between business units and the technology function, delivering high-value consultative support to help interpret needs, simplify processes, and drive automation to solve business challenges and capture opportunities. This role leads and supports the analysis, planning, and execution of initiatives aligned with organizational goals through effective use of technology.
The BT Business Partner communicates priorities, decisions, and key updates related to technology services, requests, projects, and initiatives. This position primarily interacts at the operational leadership level, with occasional engagement at the executive level.
The ideal candidate is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and other productivity tools; excels at building collaboration across teams and departments; demonstrates strong situational leadership; and can effectively plan, prioritize, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. This individual is skilled in analyzing business processes, evaluating technology solutions and vendor proposals, and possesses strong communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
OR
Experience:
Equivalent combination of education and experience, or a minimum of 5 years in IT, business analysis, functional areas (such as supply chain, sales, marketing, or manufacturing), and/or project management within dynamic organizations managing mid-sized projects.
Travel: Up to 15%
Work Schedule:
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work outside these hours as needed to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship & Planning
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships across multiple teams and organizational levels
- Lead sessions to analyze, simplify, improve, and automate business processes
- Identify and anticipate business needs and opportunities
- Facilitate collaboration between business and technology stakeholders to develop strategic recommendations
- Gather and analyze data to define business and system requirements
- Coordinate or lead portfolio management activities to ensure proper resource allocation and timely project delivery
Leadership
- Provide guidance on escalations, prioritization, and project direction
- Advocate for business unit priorities while aligning with technology strategies and processes
- Lead cross-functional discussions to identify shared needs and scalable solutions
- Represent technology processes, services, and roles to business stakeholders
Consulting
- Lead evaluation and feasibility analysis of improvement initiatives
- Define project scope, approach, timelines, risks, costs, and resource requirements
- Transition initiatives into formal project execution, supporting project teams and stakeholders throughout delivery
- Support business process redesign and documentation related to new technology implementations
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate technology-related business issues
Communication, Support & Coaching
- Develop communication, training, and change management plans
- Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to business and technology teams
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure satisfaction with services and project outcomes
- Support regular reporting on project status and service performance
- Perform additional duties as assigned
