I-Series (AS400) Developer / Systems Engineer
Overview
We are looking for an experienced IBM i (AS400) Developer / Systems Engineer to support and enhance a critical enterprise platform running in a COBOL and CL environment. This role combines development and operational responsibilities, supporting system stability while also contributing to application enhancements and new functionality.
The position works closely with business users and internal IT teams to maintain the environment, improve system processes, and support ongoing modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and support IBM i (AS400) systems including OS/400 upgrades, PTF application, and system maintenance
• Provide development and support within a COBOL/400 and CL programming environment
• Enhance and maintain existing applications supporting core business systems
• Build and maintain batch jobs, export processes, and online application updates
• Manage operational processes including daily and monthly processing cycles and file transfers
• Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions including MIMIX
• Perform DB2/400 database administration tasks
• Maintain automated tasks and Secure FTP integrations with internal and external partners
• Support development lifecycle tools including Rocket DevOps (ALDON) and scheduling tools such as Catapult
• Work with internal stakeholders to design and implement system improvements and new functionality

Qualifications
• Hands-on experience supporting IBM i (AS400) environments
• Strong development experience with COBOL/400 and CL
• Experience with DB2/400 databases
• Familiarity with IBM i tools including SDA, RLU, PDM, WRKQRY, Sequel, ACOM, and DFU
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies in IBM i environments
• Ability to work directly with users and technical teams to support system improvements
Preferred
• Experience supporting systems within the property and casualty insurance industry
This is a remote, work from home position. This role is to be filled outside the states of California and Colorado.
