Job Title: Network Security Engineer

Location: Houston (hybrid)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer with a strong background in traditional networking and advanced expertise in Palo Alto firewalls. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network infrastructure and security, with the ability to manage and secure complex network environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the security and stability of our network systems, implementing network security policies, and optimizing firewall performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructures using Palo Alto firewalls.
• Conduct network vulnerability assessments and recommend remediation actions.
• Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network security incidents and issues.
• Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and other network security technologies to ensure compliance with security standards and protocols.
• Collaborate with the IT team to define and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain network security documentation, including architecture diagrams, policies, and procedures.
• Perform network traffic analysis and threat identification, utilizing various network security tools.
• Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data through appropriate security measures.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging threats, and security technologies.
• Provide support for security incidents, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts.
• Work with cross-functional teams to provide network security solutions that align with business goals.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in network security engineering with a strong understanding of traditional networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.).
• Extensive hands-on experience configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls (including PAN-OS).
• Strong knowledge of network security technologies such as VPNs, IDS/IPS, and web filtering.
• Experience with network segmentation, access control, and securing network infrastructure.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools, packet analysis, and network traffic monitoring.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex networking and security issues and provide effective solutions.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications such as Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) , Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) , or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) for network security tasks.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.).
