Platform Operations and Automation Analyst

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid, 3 days on-site)

About the Opportunity

A leading alternative investment firm is seeking an operations and automation analyst consultant to support its finance technology division. Moving beyond traditional production maintenance, this role focuses on systematically eliminating repetitive manual effort by teaming with engineering staff, product leads, and artificial intelligence tools. Operating under a hybrid model, the position requires in-office attendance every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical contact for end users in treasury, accounting, and investment operations seeking assistance with finance software.
• Detect trends across recurring tickets, estimate their operational impact, determine root causes, and partner with product managers to guide development priorities.
• Create, enhance, and monitor AI-driven workflows and assistants that investigate incidents, draft remediation actions, and answer routine inquiries under human oversight.
• Oversee internal documentation, technical runbooks, and information repositories to empower end-user self-service.
• Manage cross-functional data-cleansing efforts such as entity deduplication, assessing downstream effects and securing sign-off from platform owners.
• Track data movement across connected applications, preparing detailed issue tickets in Jira for confirmed defects.
• Assist with user acceptance and regression test cycles, applying machine intelligence to streamline testing procedures.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working as a business analyst delivering bespoke software or commercial vendor solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or comparable background.
• Proven practical expertise utilizing generative AI platforms like ChatGPT or Claude to build functional workflows, automation agents, or structured prompts relied upon by colleagues.
• Background in production or software support marked by a history of permanently eradicating repetitive operational problems.
• Advanced capabilities in SQL and comprehensive data investigation across disparate databases to diagnose core technical issues.
• Background operating within Agile frameworks alongside cross-functional partners, backed by clear communication skills.
• Dedication to continuous process refinement and an inclination to engineer solutions that eradicate repetitive tasks.
• Highly proactive mindset, strong self-direction, and sound judgment when collaborating with diverse colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional exposure to asset management, investment research, or specialized fund accounting, limited partner servicing, and finance systems such as DealCloud, Salesforce, Investran, or iLevel.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate of $77-90/hour, which may vary depending on relevant background, skills, and qualifications.
