Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Morristown, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Employment Type: Contract (6–12 months, potential to extend)

Overview:
A well-established organization is seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Manager to lead a SOX compliance initiative. The ideal candidate brings strong project leadership experience, with the ability to drive execution across multiple departments and manage detailed timelines, risks, and communications. Prior experience with SOX compliance or working in environments aligning with public company standards is a significant plus.

Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end project management for a SOX compliance effort, including planning, execution, and status reporting

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, and Audit, to ensure timely completion of project milestones

• Develop and manage detailed project plans, risk registers, and action item logs

• Facilitate meetings, track decisions, assign owners, and drive accountability

• Provide leadership with consistent visibility into project status, risks, and mitigation strategies

• Support internal control implementation and documentation to ensure audit readiness and alignment with SOX Section 404 requirements

• Ensure documentation quality and completeness across all workstreams

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of project management experience across business and/or IT initiatives

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities

• Experience driving compliance, audit, or risk-related projects

• Proficient in project management tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, or Jira

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, or audit readiness efforts

• Exposure to projects involving alignment with public company standards

• PMP certification or equivalent project management training

• Background in finance, energy, or other regulated industries is a plus

Additional Details:

• Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in Morristown, NJ
