Staff Backend Engineer

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned engineer to architect the foundational systems bridging decentralized finance with institutional-grade asset management. In this role, you will design and implement the back-end services, APIs, and automated infrastructure that enable the seamless tokenization and self-custody of modern financial instruments. You will join a high-impact, lean team dedicated to making global finance more efficient through transparent, blockchain-integrated technology.

Responsibilities

• System Architecture: Develop and maintain robust back-end web services that interface between distributed ledger protocols and traditional financial frameworks.

• Integration Engineering: Design and deploy secure APIs to facilitate communication with third-party institutional custodians.

• Asset Management Systems: Architect and manage internal registry and transfer agent systems to ensure accurate asset tracking.

• Infrastructure as Code: Spearhead the design, implementation, and testing of scalable cloud infrastructure.

• Technical Leadership: Own projects from conception through long-term maintenance while providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.

• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional team members to plan and execute high-impact technical roadmaps.

Requirements (Must-have)

• Educational Background: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Professional Experience: 9+ years of software engineering experience in production environments.

• Rust Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Rust for building high-performance, memory-safe systems.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Proven track record of building fault-tolerant and highly available systems within AWS.

• Data Management: Strong background in SQL, including advanced query optimization and planning.

• Scalability: Experience developing back-end services for high-traffic web applications.

• Ecosystem Knowledge: Strong familiarity with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-have)

• IaC Tools: Hands-on experience with Terraform or Pulumi.

• AWS Suite: Familiarity with Fargate, RDS, Cloudfront, ECS, or Nitro Enclaves.

• Containerization: Experience with Docker and modern CI/CD pipelines.

• Web Technologies: Proficiency in TypeScript or Node.js.

• Smart Contract Development: Exposure to Solana, Solidity, Yul, or the Foundry development framework.

• Network Protocols: Knowledge of Layer 2 scaling solutions and cross-chain bridging mechanisms.
